The County Clerk is appointed every four years with each new
Board along with the County Attorney.
County Clerk since January 1, 2001, Leila Brittain first joined the
Jones County government team as an accountant in October 1999. She became a
Certified County Clerk in 2004 through the University of Georgia and
is a current member of the Georgia County Clerks Association.
She
serves as the Secretary of the Jones County Safety Committee and
Secretary of all Commissioner Committees. Her service to the Jones
County Board of Commissioners has also included Chief Financial
Officer, Human Resource Director, and IT Director. She now
devotes 100% of her time to the Clerk's office. Ongoing
projects include the development of a detailed Records Management
Plan, a Records Disaster Preparedness Plan, conversion of the
records database to Laserfiche Version 8 while implementing a
"paperless file" database. Born in Florida, she has lived in
Jones County over 40 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems
from Georgia College & State University
both of which she obtained in 1984. She attends First Baptist
Church of Gray and has recently joined the History and Heritage
Committee. She is attending the 2009-2010 Leadership Jones
development program. She has two children, 20 and 16 years
old, who both are attending college full-time.

Agendas are finalized the Thursday before
the meetings and posted on the county bulletin board at the
Government Center, emailed to the Jones County News, and posted
on the county’s web site. A summary agenda of all actions taken
at the meeting is posted in the same places listed above
within 48 hours following the meeting. To be placed on the
agenda or if you have any questions, you may call the County
Clerk at 478-986-8230. Please click on Page 2 above to
download a form that may be faxed or emailed to request to be placed
on the agenda. We
respectfully asked that all information that you would like to
distribute to the commissioners at the meeting be sent to the County
Clerk no later than Friday afternoon prior to the Tuesday
Commissioner Meetings. The Clerk will make copies for
you and include them in the commissioners' meeting notebooks along
